The Reset Button...

When you hear a baby crying, do you clench your teeth?

Or do you listen until you hear the breath of life, exploding from it's tiny lungs.

Do you appreciate all that it is worth to you.

Do you appreciate all that it is worth to it.

When you see a person that needs help, do you turn away?

Or do you extend your hand?

When you feel overwhelmed by life, do you cry because you can't handle it on your own?

Or do you laugh because you know you don't have to?

Have you ever tried for just one day, to not judge anyone?

Or anything?

Life starts right now.

Every single day.

Over and over and over again.

Just for today, wake up with a new set of eyes.

Just for today, wake up with a new set of ears.

Just for today, judge no one and help anyone.

Just for today, give until it hurts.

There are 365 days in a year and you only have to live them one at a time.

Hit the reset button.

It's not as hard as you might think.

  1. Good thoughts. In these times of tragedy around the world, I need to examine in my life what is healthy for me to be critical of and what's just me complaining.

  9. A saying that I love: You can start your day over at any time.

I love it because I use it. Constantly.

  10. I'm at the end of a visit to my dad's place that he bought for retirement. Instead of retiring, he has started two businesses. He's considering more opportunities. I have been unemployed for a long stretch. He can't understand why I won't move here to work for him. Let's see... Growing up with his hostility, irritability, mania and myriad personality traits and habits that are hard to be around, not to mention years of working for him previously.

I came here hoping to "reset" our relationship before he dies. I think that was accomplished. But, I can't jump into the deep end, for the sake of my sanity. To be honest, I am looking forward to my flight. It has been a hard week.

Next step... "reset" the rest of my life. Great post.

  11. i can reset but a baby crying - is aggravating! This being asked the day after a 7hr flight from Paris with a crying baby 3 rows in front of me 60% of the time. Just had to be honest with that one - but I WILL aim to not judge someone even if it's under my breath. It's a start!

  12. That's the way I have started every day of my life for the past many, many years. But, a Baby crying because it's a spoiled brat and the parents don't do a damn thing about it when they could...that's intolerable, inexcusable and damn inconsiderate.

  13. I've got an automatic reset every day, and it works like anything. Of course, my friends can't figure out why I can't remember any of our conversations, and some of them get irritated, but who the hell cares? Who the hell are they? Why are they at my front door with a bottle of wine? Where are my pajama bottoms?

  14. Judgement is so automatic sometimes. It takes a real effort to just live your life. I find this concept challenging, but something to strive for. These are wise words, Jason!

  20. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I see lots of trackbacks??
